PRIVACY POLICY

We welcome all visitors of all ages – children, adults, elders – to the Legacy Project website at www.legacyproject.org. Our privacy policies are listed below. If you do not agree to these policies, please do not use this site.

We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of our visitors. A note to children: Remember to be smart when you're online. Do not give out your full name, e-mail address, home address, telephone number or any other personal information that would enable someone to contact you either online or offline. If you are under 13 years of age, do not enter any personally identifiable information on this website.

INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE

The Communication Project (which runs the Legacy Project website) is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We do not sell, rent, or exchange this information.

PERSONALLY-IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION

We collect some personally-identifiable information, when visitors choose to provide it, for such things as our newsletters, contests, and interactive activities. We consider the following, among other things, to be personally identifiable information: first and last name, e-mail address, street address, phone number.

COOKIES

Cookies are data files that certain websites write to your computer's hard drive when you visit such sites. We do not use cookies directly. However, we do subscribe to third-party tracking services which allow us to monitor traffic on our website. The third parties are MyComputer.com and Google Analytics which track general information about visitors to our site by using cookies and reading browser settings. This does not include any personally-identifiable information. This information is only used in an aggregated, anonymous manner to determine the composition of our visitor base and to analyze traffic patterns within our site so that we can continually improve it.

BROWSER-LEVEL INFORMATION

We collect some browser-level information when a visitor chooses to use any of the online forms on our site to send us information (e.g. subscribe to a newsletter or enter a contest). By browser-level information, we are referring to information about our visitor's browser (e.g. Google Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer), IP address (address used to connect your computer to the Internet), operating systems (e.g. Windows or Mac), Internet service providers, and other similar information. This information is kept confidential and is used for such things as improving this website and addressing misuse of our online forms.

NEWSLETTERS

If a visitor wishes to subscribe to our free newsletter, we ask for information such as name and e-mail address. If you do not wish to receive material from us, you can e-mail us to have all your personal information removed from our list.

CONTESTS AND OTHER INTERACTIVE ACTIVITIES

From time to time, our site requests information from visitors for our contests and activities. Participation in these is completely voluntary and online participation is restricted to people 13 years and over. The visitor, therefore, has a choice whether or not to disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and mailing address) and demographic information (such as age). Contact information will be used to contact participants with such information as the award of a prize, arranging for the receipt of a prize, and informing participants of new information, contests, books, activities, etc. Before entering any of our contests, visitors should always read the complete contest rules for additional information about how your entry and personal information will be used.

TELL A FRIEND

If a visitor elects to use our referral service for informing a friend about our site, we ask you for your name and e-mail address and your friend's name and e-mail address. We will send the friend an e-mail inviting them to visit the site. If the friend does not wish to receive our e-mails, they can e-mail us to have their name removed from our list. The visitor who initiated the referral will also be on our e-mail list and, again, you can e-mail us to have your name removed from our list.

PARTNERS

We regularly partner with other quality companies and organizations. We do not sell, rent, or exchange our database of personally-identifiable information regarding our visitors with these parties, and they operate with separate databases from our own.

LINKS

We do not accept paid advertising on our site. However, this website does contain links to other sites as a service to our visitors. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the policies of sites to which we link. We encourage our visitors to be aware when they leave our site and to read the policies of each and every website that collects personally-identifiable information. The policy statement here applies solely to information collected by this website.

We use e-mail links throughout this site to allow visitors to contact us directly with questions and comments. Information you supply is used to respond to you. We may contact you again in the future with news about this website. If you do not wish to receive information from us, you can contact us to have your name removed from our list.

CHANGES TO POLICIES

If we decide to change our policies, we will post the changes on this website so that visitors are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it.
