SIMPLE DREAM STARS
A simple
paper star
for children
5 to 8 years
From the time they're little, most children make wishes on stars in
the night sky. This simple star is a chance for them to create their own Dream Star and start to become more aware of their hopes and dreams.
Here are the steps for folding and cutting the simple Dream Star:
1) Fold a sheet of 8½ by
11 inch paper in half and crease firmly.
2) Fold in half again and crease lightly. Unfold the second fold. The crease from the second fold serves as a guide for the next step.
3) Fold the top, right corner down and across so that the tip meets the edge of the paper at the crease line you created in step 2.
4) Fold the top, left corner down right along the edge of the paper.
5) Fold once again so that the top, left edge of the paper meets the right edge of the paper.
6) Starting at the folded tip, cut up at a fairly sharp angle.
7) Unfold the small triangle to reveal your Dream Star!
After folding and cutting, children can color one side of the Dream Star and write their dream or wish on the other.
Display the stars on the wall or chain them together to decorate a room. Many of the ideas for the origami Dream Star can also be adapted for this simple star.
